The job holder plays a pivotal role in managing project budgets, ensuring they align with organizational financial plans. They control costs, promptly reporting any variances for corrective action. They prepares comprehensive financial reports, managing the accurate processing of invoices to maintain financial integrity. Ensures compliance with regulations, including tax obligations and financial reporting standards, remains a key responsibility. They will be responsible for mitigating financial risks, such as currency exchange fluctuations, and maintaining transparent communication with stakeholders, including project teams and external parties.
Responsibilities and Accountabilities
- Budget Custodian and Management. Responsible for tracking the project budget, ensuring it aligns with the overall financial planning and projections of the project and the organization. Monitor and control project costs against the budget to ensure financial efficiency and report any variances.
- Financial Reporting. Prepare financial reports related to the project, including profit and loss statements, cash flow forecasts, and expenditure reports.
- Invoice Management. Handle the processing of invoices related to the project, ensuring that all financial transactions are accurately recorded, and that vendors and contractors are paid in a timely manner.
- Compliance and Regulation. Ensure that the project complies with all financial regulations and standards. This includes tax obligations, financial reporting standards, and any industry-specific financial compliance requirements.
- Cost Analysis and Control. Analyze the project expenses to identify areas where costs can be reduced without impacting project outcomes by working closely with project leaders to implement cost-saving measures and control spending.
- Financial Risk Management. Identify financial risks associated with the project and work with the project team to mitigate these risks. This could involve analyzing currency exchange risks for international projects or assessing the financial stability of key vendors.
- Liaison with Stakeholders. Acti as the financial liaison between project teams, company management, and external parties such as clients, vendors, and financial institutions.
- Project Closure. Responsible for closing out the project’s accounts, ensuring that all financial obligations have been met and conducting a post-project financial analysis to assess financial performance and identify lessons learned.
- Perform Other Assigned Duties as assigned by the supervisor from time to time.
Minimum qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in finance/accounting or related courses.
- Professional qualification in accounting such as CPA or ACCA will be an added advantage.
- At least 4 years relevant accounting experience and preferably in managing projects.
- Knowledge of finance processes, systems, and principles is desired.
- Experience in computerized accounting applications.
Competencies and Attributes
- Sound knowledge of project monitoring and evaluation.
- Networking and partnership building skills.
- Working experience with accounting software.
