The Alliance works with local, national and multinational partners across Latin America and the Caribbean, Asia and Africa, and with the public and private sectors. The Alliance is part of CGIAR, a global research partnership for a food-secure future, dedicated to reducing poverty, enhancing food and nutrition security, and improving natural resources and ecosystem services.

About the position

The Alliance of Bioversity International and the International Center for Tropical Agriculture (CIAT) is looking for a self-motivated intern to provide timely and efficient programs support to on-going Alliance Projects in Tanzania.

Main responsibility:

The internship student will support and learn different administration and project operations duties from the Programs Administration & Operations, and other projects teams.

Key duties & Responsibilities

  • Help with the administrative and operational support of continuing project activities in the workplace.
  • Assist in organizing meeting materials and helping to schedule and plan conferences both internally and externally.
  • helping to review the project budgets and the budget for ongoing activities.
  • gathers, arranges, evaluates, and condenses information in order to prepare a variety of reports.
  • helping to keep program calendars updated and reminding people of upcoming appointments.
  • helping to put together and distribute bulk mailings.
  • As needed by the program team, help with document copying and proofreading.
  • helping with the typing of reports and letters as needed from time to time.
  • coordinating supplier and vendor payment paperwork to support procurement and logistics
  • supporting the millage charge back to the projects by supporting the vehicle millage review and recording in the database.
  • As needed, assist in completing administrative duties to support a productive workplace.
  • As directed by superiors, carry out extra administrative and operational duties.

Requirements

  • Completed a bachelor’s degree program not more than a year ago in business administration, project planning and management, agriculture, or any other closely related discipline.
  • Fundamental computer abilities and familiarity with Microsoft Office products.
  • Strong oral and writing communication abilities.
  • Strong command of the English language.

Terms of employment

Based in Arusha, Tanzania, this is an internship opportunity. The agreement will be in effect for six (6) months, with the possibility of a one-year extension based on resources and performance.
