The GOVERNMENT has made improvements in some areas in the Education and Training Policy to provide skills education instead of vocational education only where compulsory education will be for 10 years instead of seven as it is now.

As he was giving information about the improvements, the Prime Minister, Kassim Majaliwa said the implementation of the improvements will start in 2027 in parallel with canceling the seventh grade exam and instead starting with the sixth grade assessment for joining compulsory secondary education.

The Prime Minister said this (Thursday, November 2, 2023) while giving information about the approval of the Education and Training Policy 2014, Version 2023 and the Education Curricula at the Primary, Primary, Secondary and Teacher Education levels during the question period of instantly to the Prime Minister in parliament in Dodoma.

He said that this step has been reached after various challenges were identified including, the education system focusing more on general education and lack of opportunities for education and training based on the needs and different ways of learning not meeting according to the environment.

He mentioned other challenges as: Curricula not meeting the needs of economic, social, scientific and technological changes, an ineffective system of control and accreditation of education and a shortage of manpower. These challenges gave rise to the need to improve our education policy to meet current and future needs.
