Uhamiaji also known as The Immigration Services Department is established under Section 4(1) of the Immigration Act of 1995 Chapter 54 as amended by Act No.8 of 2015.  It gives the Department the authority to control and facilitate immigration issues in the United Republic of Tanzania. The Department is one of the security organs under Ministry of Home Affairs. Any foreigner intending to reside in the United Republic of Tanzania for investment, business, employment or any other legal activity may be issued with Residence Permit. There are three types of Residence Permits which are Residence Permit Class A, Band C. However, there are various sub-categories to this broad classification of Residence Permit as described in the Residence Permit Matrix.
An applicant with a Form Four Education should be between 18 and 23 years old, an Applicant with a Form Six Education and Diploma should be between 18 and 26 years old and an Applicant with a Bachelor’s Education should be between 18 and 30 years old.
Please be aware that having a visa does not grant you entry into the United Republic of Tanzania. If the immigration officer at the entrance point determines that the visa holder is not capable of meeting the standards for immigration admission or that their presence in the United Republic of Tanzania would be against the interests of the country, he may refuse to allow them access.
