Primary Purpose:
We are looking for a highly motivated and seasoned Senior Clearing and Forwarding Officer to join our dynamic team in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania. The incumbent will play a pivotal role in overseeing the efficient clearance of goods through customs formalities, coordinating with carriers, and managing the shipping and delivery processes. The Senior Clearing and Forwarding Officer will lead our existing team, ensuring a smooth and compliant workflow.
Priorities and Duties:
- Confirming shipping document drafts and providing guidance on necessary amendments.
- Monitoring the processing of import permits and facilitating necessary approvals.
- Generating shipping comparison reports for new consignments, facilitating the allocation to clearing agents (nomination report).
- Sharing mandatory shipping documents with clearing agents and overseeing the clearance, load out, and delivery processes to prevent additional charges.
- Tracking consignments from the port of loading to our warehouse, ensuring seamless offloading.
- Collaborating with clearing agents throughout the consignment clearance process.
- Reviewing duty expense sheets for consignments subject to taxes, ensuring necessary approvals and follow-up.
- Verifying and ensuring the timely sharing of invoices from clearing agents.
- Reviewing invoice summaries before submission for approval and managing the follow-up process until payment is completed.
- Reconciling statements of accounts between our organization and clearing agents.
- Documenting and filing all mandatory shipping and clearing documentation for each order.
- Following up with clearing agents for contract renewals.
- Reviewing and distributing daily status reports, as well as weekly reports for clearance, transportation payments, and duty payments.
- Coordinating with the warehouse team during cargo receipt to verify received quantities.
- Collaborating with the supply chain team to address any shipping-related queries or issues.
- Communicating and following up with the supply chain to prevent document receipt delays and associated extra charges, confirming reasons for any delays. Performing any other duties assigned by management.

Selection Criteria: Essential
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent qualification in a related field. ➢ 3-5 years of experience in fleet management and control
- Proven experience as a Clearing and Forwarding Officer in a senior role.
- In-depth knowledge of customs regulations, import permits, and shipping documentation.
- Strong organizational and leadership skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
