Primary Purpose:

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Fleet Controller to join our team in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania. The Fleet Controller will play a critical role in ensuring the operational efficiency of our fleet by monitoring and managing service and repairs, tracking fuel consumption, and overseeing the GPS system. The successful candidate will be responsible for maintaining the quality and performance of our vehicles, ensuring they are always ready to meet the company’s transportation needs.

Key Priorities and Duties:

  1. Service and Repairs Management
    • Coordinate and schedule regular maintenance, service, and repairs for the fleet vehicles. Collaborate with maintenance teams and external service providers to ensure the timely completion of repairs and maintenance tasks.
    • Maintain accurate records of all maintenance and service activities, including costs and vehicle history
  2. Fuel Consumption Monitoring
    • Monitor and analyze fuel consumption across the fleet to identify areas of improvement and cost-saving opportunities.
    • Implement fuel efficiency measures and promote best practices among drivers. Track and report fuel consumption trends to management.
  3. GPS System Oversight
    • Manage and maintain the GPS tracking system for the fleet, ensuring accuracy and reliability.
    • Monitor vehicle locations and routes in real-time to optimize scheduling and route efficiency.
    • Troubleshoot and resolve any GPS system-related issues.
  4. Data Reporting and Analysis
    • Prepare regular reports on fleet performance, including service and maintenance expenses, fuel consumption, and GPS tracking data.
    • Analyze data to identify trends, areas for improvement, and cost-reduction opportunities.
    • Provide recommendations and insights to enhance fleet operations.
  5. Compliance and Safety
    • Ensure all vehicles in the fleet comply with local and national safety and regulatory standards.
    • Monitor driver compliance with safety guidelines and policies.
    • Conduct safety audits and provide training as needed.

Selection Criteria: Essential

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent qualification in a related field.
  • 3-5 years of experience in fleet management and control.
  • Strong knowledge of automotive maintenance and repair procedures.
  • Proficiency in using GPS tracking systems and fleet management software.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.

Desirable for all posts

  • Demonstrated experience in working with socially excluded communities and awareness of issues facing Culturally diverse communities in regions such as East Africa.
