Position Program Technical Advisor (1 post)
Report to Executive Director
Location STEPS Tanzania, HQ Offices, Dar es Salaam

Main Tasks:

  1. Support technical and programmatic development, implementation, and monitoring.
  2. Develop and implement knowledge management strategies, including information capture, organization, and dissemination.
  3. Coordinate resource mobilization efforts, identifying funding opportunities and addressing resource gaps.
  4. Conduct training and capacity-building programs to enhance knowledge management and resource mobilization skills.
  5. Support management in maintaining partnerships with key ministries, funders, and non-state actors.
  6. Assist program staff in developing annual work plans and project reports.
  7. Perform other duties as assigned by the direct supervisor.

Education Requirement:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Medicine/Medical Doctor, Public or International Health, Community Development, Behavior Change Communication, or Behavioral Sciences. A master’s degree in public health or related fields is an added advantage.

Professional and Work Experience:

  • Minimum of 4 years of relevant experience in technical capacity building in public health, programming, and leadership.
  • Demonstrated experience and extensive knowledge of working with non-governmental organizations and international donors.
  • 3-5 years of experience in senior technical leadership or program management roles in communicable disease prevention, with a focus on social and behavior change communication (SBCC).

Essential Skills:

  • Proven leadership skills, mentoring, teamwork, and delegation.
  • Fluent in Swahili and English with excellent writing, oral, and visual presentation skills.
  • Ability to assess priorities, carry out various activities accurately and timely.
  • Excellent organizational skills, attention to detail, and ability to initiate and implement activities independently.
  • Proficient in MS Office (Word, PowerPoint, Excel) and the Internet.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

Additional Information:

  • Working conditions may involve extensive travel between Dar es Salaam and project districts/regions (12 to 25% of trips).
