Mbeya Cement Company Limited (Lafarge Tanzania) is a subsidiary of the Holcim Group, headquartered in Switzerland with operations in Africa, Europe, Asia and America. Holcim is a leading global company providing innovative and sustainable building and construction solutions.

Lafarge Tanzania is seeking to recruit a highly motivated Mining Engineer, to be based in Mbeya Plant, in a permanent employment contract. The position reports to the Quarry Manager.

Summary of Roles and Responsibilities

• Act in a way that consistently aims to improve safety performance and culture while making sure that the essential behaviors are followed at all times.
• Work safely everywhere you go, recognize possible safety risks, and work with management to address them.
• For all materials, including clay, pozzolana, sandstone, limestone, and iron ore, plan, evaluate, and oversee all quarry operations.
• Confirm whether operations align with the current mine plan by conducting exploration and mining surveys, including mapping and contour surveying.
• Carry out mine design activities, such as mine closure plan (MCP), quarry planning, drilling and blasting patterns, and quarry updates.
• Carry out routine topographical surveys in DWG or DXF, 3D format programs, and programming for overburden stripping.
• To guarantee that the raw materials are crushed, blended, and reclaimed in accordance with standards, keep an eye on this process.
• SOPs are frequently reviewed to make sure that policies and procedures are still relevant and up to date, or to see if new SOPs are required.
• Make sure you physically count all of the raw materials in your inventory and send the production department monthly reports.
• For plant operations, compile internal reports on quarrying activities on a daily, weekly, and monthly basis. For legal compliance and decision-making purposes, submit external reports to the government’s Mining Office.

Qualifications

Education: A minimum of three years’ experience in the mining or cement manufacturing sectors along with a bachelor’s degree in mining engineering.
