Position Overview:

Working with Acsolar Company Limited as a Civil and Water Engineer, you will be integral to the planning, carrying out, and overseeing of water projects in the Kondoa District. In order to guarantee the effective completion of projects that address rural communities’ water needs, you will collaborate closely with various stakeholders, government organizations, and local communities.

Key Responsibilities:

A civil and water engineer’s duties usually cover a broad spectrum of activities linked to the design, planning, building, and upkeep of water-related infrastructure.

• For projects involving water, such as irrigation systems, wastewater treatment facilities, drainage systems, and water supply systems, create designs and specifications.
• Water infrastructure, such as pipelines, pumping stations, reservoirs, and treatment facilities, is designed and implemented under supervision.
• To ascertain the viability of suggested projects, carry out site evaluations and feasibility studies.
• Make use of engineering tools and software to evaluate data and produce intricate designs.
• In order to guarantee that projects are finished on schedule and within budget, coordinate with clients and suppliers.
• Make routine site visits to check on quality, progress, and adherence to safety regulations and design specifications.
• Work together to create building plans and project specifications with the engineering team.
• To evaluate the topography and environmental conditions for project planning, conduct surveys and site inspections.
• Take part in project meetings and offer your assistance in addressing problems and making decisions.
• Help verify that project documentation complies with industry standards and regulations by reviewing and approving it.
• Make sure we closely follow the deadlines for every project and send the operation manager daily reports and updates from the field.
• Plan, develop, and implement solar water pumping systems’ water distribution layout in close collaboration with our clients. System knowledge for Epanet is a MUST.
• Determine the extent to which the current water projects require maintenance. Determine issues and malfunctions and offer long-term fixes.
• Using acquired invoices, create competitive construction and maintenance budgets (BOQ) in Microsoft Excel.
• Keeping in close communication with the engineers of the clients in order to execute projects successfully.

Qualification

• The ideal applicant has a background in water engineering, is an enthusiastic and capable team leader, and possesses good interpersonal skills.
• Have managed the effective design and installation of a solar water pumping system for at least five years.
• Exhibit remarkable abilities, a track record of serving marginalized communities, an attention to detail, and problem-solving abilities.
• Demonstrated experience working with the community, as well as a focus on detail and aptitude for problem-solving.
• Thrives in a fast-paced atmosphere and is at ease using Zoom, Skype, and WhatsApp at flexible hours to work with clients across continents and time zones.
• A track record of motivating a team and setting an example.

Requirements. 

• A bachelor’s degree with a focus on water projects in extremely remote places, in civil or water engineering, or a closely related profession. A master’s degree will be beneficial in addition.
• A minimum of five years of experience managing water projects, with a focus on solar water pumping systems.
• It is imperative to possess extensive knowledge, practical competence, and experience with EPANET while designing water projects. Additionally, familiarity with additional design programs like AutoCAD, ArchCAD, GIS and GPS software, WaterCAD, Protostructure, etc., may be necessary.
• Experience overseeing civil works projects for NGOs and non-NGOs that concentrate on community development.
• Technologically savvy and has exceptional computer abilities, particularly in email and Microsoft Office applications.
• The capacity to dedicate oneself to flexible work schedules, even on weekends
• The capacity to move to Tanzania’s Kondoa Region.
• Extremely good at speaking and writing in English.
• Competent in Swahili and endowed with a positive disposition.
