Job Purpose:

Overseeing the data protection strategy and its execution to guarantee compliance with multiple data protection laws and throughout the numerous jurisdictions in which Equity Group Holdings Plc and its subsidiaries (Equity) operate, will be the responsibility of the Bank Data Protection Officer. The position will collaborate closely with the leadership teams in the areas of business, risk and compliance, data and analytics, legal, and IT security.

Job Responsibilities/ Accountabilities:

• Putting policies in place and a privacy governance framework in place to control data processing and use in accordance with all applicable privacy regulations that Equity must abide by in the area.
• Must compile and deliver to the Commission on a quarterly basis reports about Act compliance.
• To inform about any infractions of the Act or these Regulations that the data controller or data processor may have committed during processing, and to suggest corrective actions.
• Working together with important internal stakeholders, reviewing projects to make sure they comply with national and international data privacy legislation; as needed, completing and offering advice on privacy impact assessments.
• Acting as the main point of contact and communication in the jurisdictions that Equity works in for the Data Commission Office and other Data Protection Authorities.
• Acting as the main point of contact for questions the company has about data protection and privacy; reviewing equity vendor contracts and obtaining consents required to carry out projects in collaboration with the legal and information security departments; and making sure local regulatory filing requirements are met.
• Verify that the rights of data subjects resulting from Equity’s numerous consumer touch points are fulfilled.
• Establishing guidelines, standards, and practices that comply with the regulations outlined in the Data Protection Act, Regulation 2023, EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), and any localization needs in the operational nations.
• Working together with the data governance and information security departments to educate staff members throughout the bank on data privacy and security concerns and to provide training on the topic.
• Keeping an eye on results and provide guidance on how data protection initiatives are impacting Equity
• Maintaining detailed records of all the steps Equity takes to process data, including with the rationale behind each step, which must be made public upon request.
• Interacting with Equity customers to explain to them the organization’s policies regarding data protection, their rights, and the steps taken to secure their personal data.
• Working together with the legal and information security departments to keep track of all data assets, guarantee data classification, and handle data security incidents in a way that enables prompt resolution of issues, security breaches, complaints, and claims.
• Determine and assess the data processing actions carried out by Equity.
• Give direction and training on the execution of Data Protection Impact Assessments (DPIAs).
• Observe Equity’s data management practices and compliance.
• Take part in manager meetings to guarantee privacy by design across the board.
• Make that Equity responds to any requests from data subjects (such as deleting their information from our databases or updating their personal information) within the legally-mandated deadlines.
• Speak with other companies that handle data processing for Equity.
• Compose and maintain comprehensive manuals on data security procedures.
• Perform audits and determine whether our procedures need to be modified to adhere to legal standards.
• Give guidance on how to handle data privacy violations.

REQUIREMENTS

• A minimum of two years’ experience in banking
• A background in law, compliance, IT security, data governance, or auditing

• Familiarity with computer security systems
