National Electoral Commission (NEC)

The National Electoral Commission Tume ya Taifa ya Uchaguzi (NEC) is an autonomous government institution. It was established in 1993 under Article 74(1) of the Constitution of the United Republic of Tanzania, 1977. The vision of the Commission is to be a credible Electoral Management Body in Africa and its Mission is to coordinate and supervise General and By-Elections through voters Registration, Constituencies demarcation and Voters Education in collaboration with key stakeholders to safeguard democracy.

The National Electoral Commission is announcing qualified Tanzanians to apply for short-term contract jobs for IT Cadres and Procurement and Supply Cadres for the improvement of the Permanent Voter Register.

IT CADRE

(200 Positions – Dar es Salaam and 50 Position – Dodoma)

A: Applicant qualifications for IT Cadre

• He should have a certificate of form four and above, with experience working in the Commission will be an additional qualification; 
• Have a degree certificate or diploma or diploma in the field of IT (ICT/ IT), Electronics or Electrical issued by a college recognized by the Government or any other field related to IT issues or a computer course certificate or having computer skills; 
• Be skilled in using computers and smartphones (Smartphones) as well as doing minor maintenance of these devices; 
• He should not be employed in the Public Service;
• Must not have been convicted of a criminal offense within five years prior to applying for this job; and 
• Be fair and honest.

B: Duties and Responsibilities:-

• Preparing upgrade equipment including connecting and charging them; 
• Installing various IT programs; 
• Reviewing all IT equipment available in the Commission’s offices; 
• Providing technical advice to council executives during the implementation of activities managed by the Commission;
• Assisting the Commission’s staff in providing training to council executives on the use of IT; 
• Perform preventive maintenance on IT equipment; and
• To carry out other duties assigned by the work manager of the relevant section.

GENERAL CONDITIONS FOR ALL APPLICANTS

• i. The applicant must be a citizen of Tanzania and be at least 18 years old and not more than 45 years old; 
• ii. The applicant should attach a copy of the Secondary Education and Vocational certificates required according to the relevant cadre as described in this announcement;
• iii. Each applicant must attach a copy of the birth certificate or an original affidavit;
• iv. The applicant should attach a personal statement (CV) showing his phone number and residential address;
• v. The applicant should attach two recent passport size photographs; 
• v. The applicant should attach a letter signed by his three guarantors, their residential addresses, two recent passport size photographs and National ID number;
• vii. The applicant should attach a letter of identification from the Chairman of
•   Local or Village Government in the area where he lives; 
• viii. The applicant should specify on the envelope the work center he is applying for between Dar Es Salaam or Dodoma and the job he is applying for; 
• ix. The Commission will not be responsible for the travel and living expenses of the applicant who will apply outside the Region where he lives;
• x. The Commission will not be responsible for the applicant’s travel expenses during the interview;
• xi. All requests should be sent via Posła. In addition, hand-delivered applications will not be accepted; and xii. An applicant who submits false information will be subject to legal action.
• The deadline for sending job applications is February 10, 2024
